How to make a Recycled CD Album
Step 1 - Preparation

Assemble everything. (Including your thoughts of what you're trying to create!)

Assemble the things you need

Sand two cd's (will help the glue to stick properly)

Use a heavy paper and outline the cd's ready for cutting out - 2 for each cd...

A Fiskar's cutter with the freehand attachment to cut around the paper might be the best way...

Use paperglue and attach paper cutouts to both sides of the two cd's

Put the cd between white paper under a heavy book until they have dried...

In the meantime start making two inter pages for the album.

Make them both doublesided...using the same glue and also putting them under a heavy book until they have dried...

Trim the edges of all four pieces and lightly sand the edges...

Step 2 - Preparing each component

Sanding and preparing the disks

Sanding disks

This is a view after sanding and before the heavy paper is attached...

Step 3 - Starting the Assembly

All prepped and ready to assemble

Step 4 - Adding the front cover

Getting it all together

Take the cover of the album and mark a line across where you want the hinges to attach and score with a craft knife, then cut with scissors...

Attach hinges after drilling holes through all four pieces of your work (you may have to cut off the tips of the screw on the back as they maybe too long)

The bottom part of the hinges only attach to the bottom of the front cover of the album and you will have to cut off the ends of the screws before you attach this piece...so as not to damage your work...

Step 5 - An idea of the finished work

The project is now ready for decorating...

Now your piece is ready for decorating...

Step 6 - Finished front cover

Cover has been decorated... leaving the inside to go

I have only completed the first page but have the other pages to surprise him with once in a while...

The little brass picture hanger on the bottom left I found in a carpark and just had to pick it up and save it for something like this...I unfortunately have a habit of doing a lot of this these days...

Step 7 - And onto the inside!

Decorating the inside..... When I get around to that as another project!

Hi Helen, Spend most of my time in the polly-tunnel looking after/re-potting plants. Having repairs done to the house on Monday so tidy the garage so that the handyman can do his job.
